ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill Police Department responded to Affinity Health Center off Lakeshore Parkway just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a “woman retrieving a firearm and handling it,” said Michael Chavis, the public information officer at the police department.
There was an indication that a shooting happened so Rock Hill police responded as if it were an active shooter situation.
They found the woman inside and she surrendered without incident, Chavis said in a news release.
Officers seized her handgun and secured the building. Affinity Health Center staff placed the facility under lockdown until it was safe.
Serenity Stroud, 26 of Rock Hill, was issued warrants for breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature and pointing and presenting a firearm. Stroud was taken to Piedmont Medical Center because she ingested unknown medications.
Stroud will be transported to the Rock Hill Jail upon release.
