CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There was a heavy police presence, including a SWAT team, at the InTown Suites Extended Stay in east Charlotte Saturday night.
Officers were called to the 6400 block of Four Winds Drive after an undisclosed amount of victims said they were robbed at gunpoint, police said.
Police located the suspect, David Jamison, at the InTown Suites on Albemarle Road. Police said he barricaded himself inside one of the rooms.
The building was evacuated and the Albemarle Road entrance was blocked off.
A Charlotte Area Transit System bus arrived for the evacuated guests after families waited outside for hours.
"It's kind of scary because I have my son and my family over here. I have to protect them," an area resident said.
The suspect was taken into custody around 11:45 p.m.
