WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters in Watauga County were on the scene of a large house fire in the Valle Crucis area, near Highway 194 and Clark Creek Road.
Video provided by GoBlueRidge.net showed large flames shooting from the building from behind trees.
Officials told Channel 9 that the fire started around 6 a.m.
Highway 194 was blocked, which will affect school traffic at Valle Crusis Elementary and Watauga High School.
Firefighters had to call the Department of Transportation because the cold temps were freezing the water on the highway.
Investigators said no one was in the house and firefighters don't have a cause yet.
