LANCASTER, S.C. — Braylee Arrington couldn’t believe her eyes.
“It was like tons of empty boxes,” she said. “The mail carrier just kept on bringing out boxes and boxes and I was like when does it end?”
You may not realize the U.S. Postal Service offers some free shipping supplies, including certain boxes. It’s become a social media prank to order a bunch to someone else’s address.

One TikTok video says, “You know how inconvenient it would be to have like 300 boxes show up to your house?”
Arrington didn’t count them all, but quick math told her she was stuck with that number, maybe more.
“My first thought was like, ‘Oh, it’s just like one of those TikTok trends. It’s really like nothing to worry about.’ But then I got to thinking, ‘How’d they get my address and why am I the person who’s getting sent these things?’” she told Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke. “I haven’t really done anything to nobody, so I don’t understand why I’m getting all these boxes.”

The Postal Service offers free shipping supplies as a convenience to customers, but there are restrictions. Postal officials ask customers to return extra supplies to the post office.
Arrington did, but whoever ordered them still succeeded in making extra work for her.
Plus, misusing post office supplies, even free ones, can be a federal crime.
