Richard Olin Hopkins, 29, of Heath Springs, was arrested on Sept. 17 at a home on West Meeting Street. He was charged with trafficking heroin, trafficking heroin near the Springdale Recreation Complex and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Hopkins’ bond was also denied.

Authorities went to Love’s home on Sept. 20, but he drove off on a scooter. He was soon stopped by law enforcement agents.

Love was also charged with trafficking heroin. His bond was denied, and he remains incarcerated.

“In the space of less than a week, our agents, with assistance from other agencies, made three major drug trafficking arrests and seized heroin with a street value approaching $30,000,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “Unfortunately, these heroin trafficking arrests have become much too common, but we intend to stay out there every day and get as much of this deadly drug out of circulation as possible.”
