Lake Norman restaurant draws national acclaim

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Local restaurateurs Joe and Katy Kindred have once again drawn national attention with their Hello, Sailor venture in Cornelius.

The latest nod comes from Bon Appetit, which named the waterfront eatery on Lake Norman among 50 nominees for its feature on “America’s Best New Restaurants 2018.”

It marks the second high-profile recognition for Hello, Sailor in as many weeks — the establishment, which opened in December in the former home of the Rusty Rudder, was also just named to Eater.com’s list of best new restaurants. Since its debut, Hello, Sailor has racked up several mentions, including in GQ and Garden & Gun magazines.

The Bon Appetit list will be whittled to 10 in the coming weeks.
