CORNELIUS, N.C. — The Lake Norman area last month proved again to be a hot spot for high-end home sales in Mecklenburg County.

Half of the county’s 10 most expensive homes that traded in March were located either in Cornelius or Huntersville. Most of those properties were single-family, lakefront homes, with the exception of a double penthouse unit at the newly built Watermark Lake Norman luxury condo development that sold for nearly $3.3 million.

An estate on Carmel Park Drive, in the Carmel Park neighborhood of south Charlotte, came in with the highest overall price tag last month, selling for $4.5 million. Situated on a 1.5-acre lot and built in 2017, the home has about 8,500 square feet, five bedrooms and five bathrooms, according to Mecklenburg County property records.

The 10 homes featured in the March roundup of Mecklenburg’s most expensive residential sales range in price from $2.55 million to $4.5 million. In addition to Carmel Park, the homes are located in wealthy Charlotte enclaves such as Dilworth, Old Foxcroft, Myers Park and Deering Oaks as well as The Peninsula and Eagles Nest neighborhoods in Cornelius and Meadowbrook Farms in Huntersville.
