CHARLOTTE — Joe and Katy Kindred will open two of four new restaurants at Duke Energy Plaza in uptown Charlotte next year. That building at 525 S. Tryon St. serves as Duke Energy Corp.’s new headquarters.

Duke says the couple is planning an upscale restaurant to be named Albertine, after the mother of Queen Charlotte. It will fuse flavors and techniques of Mediterranean basin cooking with the “evolving American South cuisine” and include a full-service bar, Duke adds.

The couple will also open the third location of their all-day café and coffee shop, milk bread, next door to Albertine on South Tryon Street.

“We wanted to create something special in the heart of this growing, vibrant city and couldn’t have asked for a better location to open Albertine than the Duke Energy Plaza,” Joe Kindred says.
