RALEIGH, N.C. — On Wednesday Gov. Pat McCrory will sign a bill to protect abused children in North Carolina.
Kilah's Law is named for Kilah Davenport, the Union County girl police said was severely beaten by her stepfather last year.
The new law is to double the maximum sentence for child abuse to more than 30 years. It will take effect on Dec.1.
