CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have released 911 calls from the owner accused of shooting and killing a man who broke into his east Charlotte business.
The 911 calls reveal Alan Brett Corder did not wait for police to arrive on scene before approaching the break-in suspect.
They reveal he was already on the way to his store when he called 911.
911: How long is it going to take you to get there?
Corder: Five to six minutes
911: Alright the police are in route, but I am advising you it would be best for you to wait till the police get there, and not go and approach the building till they get there, to identify yourself...Alright.
Corder: We'll see what happens when I get there.
On the 911 call, Corder says the suspected burglar, later identified as 20-year-old Justin Tyler Anderson, ran right toward him. The operator is heard warning him not to put himself in harms way.

Defense attorney and legal expert James Exum said the emotion in Corder’s voice could be a problem.
"When I read that statement I felt one way about it but when I heard it, it sounded like possibly the defendant was looking for something to happen,” Exum said.
Exum believes that going to the store was a mistake, when police were on their way.
"It might be best to let them go in and do their job otherwise bad things can happen,” Exum said.
Officials said Corder was indicted by a jury Monday.
He is charged with voluntary manslaughter for the shooting on East Independence Boulevard, near Albemarle Road earlier this month.
Corder's defense attorney George Laughrum told Channel 9 they have no intention of pleading and are looking forward to their day in court.
Authorities said they were responding to a breaking-and-entering call at the American Beauty and Garden Center when Corder called 911 saying he was also responding to the store after seeing a robber inside through a security camera.
A few minutes later, officials said he called 911 again and told the operator he had just shot someone at the business.
When they arrived, police found the shooting victim Anderson and the store owner behind the building.
Paramedics pronounced Anderson dead at the scene.
Corder's next court date hasn't been set.
