CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A federal judge has approved a controversial settlement between students and the now closed Charlotte School of Law.
Students claimed they went into debt while attending but weren’t prepared to pass the bar exam.

The Charlotte School of Law closed down in 2017 after the American Bar Association determined the school broke accreditation standards.

More than 70 students objected to the settlement, saying they’d only receive a tiny fraction of the money they owe in student loans.
