CHARLOTTE — The Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is working on a new campaign to strengthen Jewish pride in the face of growing antisemitism. Journalist and “ABC News Nightline” co-anchor Juju Chang spoke with the community at Temple Israel Thursday night.
Chang, who is Jewish, said her speech is called “50% Korean, 100% Jewish,” which is how her children identify themselves.
She spoke about parallels in the rise of antisemitic and anti-Asian hate and optimism on how communities can work together.
“You understand that we have far more in common,” Chang said. “And we have far more in common in solidarity, fighting for justice and equality, and things that are foundational in American values.”
The Jewish Federation said there was a 131% increase in anti-Semitic incidents in the state of North Carolina in 2021.
They’re raising money to help meet needs in the community and to tackle important issues.
