Janitor arrested after hidden camera found inside elementary school restroom

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A janitor is accused of hiding a video camera in a staff restroom at an elementary school in Alexander County.

Authorities said the camera was hidden under a sink at Wittenburg Elementary School and was later found on the floor by a staff member.

Deputies were called to the school on Tuesday after they said a staff member found the camera.

Michael Childers, 32, was arrested and charged with felony peeping. He will face a judge on Monday.

Deputies searched the campus and said there is no indication that the camera was in any student bathrooms.

This investigation is ongoing.
