CONCORD, N.C. — A local mother is still trying to cope nearly one year after losing her 13-year-old daughter to gun violence.
Aveanna Propst was leaving Concord Mills Mall with her two sisters when she was hit and killed by a stray bullet. Police arrested the shooters, but Daniale Mackin continues to grieve.
She said it’s not easy dealing with losing her daughter and trying to be strong for her other four children.
“It’s been rough for me,” Mackin said.
>> In the video at the top of this webpage, Mackin speaks with anchor Damany Lewis about the impact Aveanna’s death is still having on her family.
