Italian restaurant Figo 36 set to debut in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Figo 36 is set to deliver a modern interpretation on Italian fare when it opens in NoDa next week.

Fresh pastas and pizzas with handmade dough, small plates to share and a tableside burrata bar are among the menu highlights. Italian-inspired cocktails and an array of Italian, Old World and New World wines are available.

“You’re going to get a very eclectic menu of beverages, wine and food,” says Dan Weiss, founder and president of Menagerie Hospitality Group. “Certainly, all the things you’d expect, plus some off the beaten path.”

Menagerie is also behind The Vintage Whiskey and Cigar Bar and The Wine Loft in South End.

Figo 36 occupies a 3,060-square-foot space — formerly home to Orto — at Novel NoD, 416 E. 36th St. That’s in the heart of NoDa’s arts district and close to the Lynx Blue Line’s 36th Street Station.

Figo — Italian slang for cool — aims to be a place where people gather for a meal or drop in after an evening out for a nightcap or a late-night bite, Weiss says.

“I think it very much is relevant to the neighborhood,” he says.
