CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An Italian helmet manufacturer that keeps its North American headquarters here has formally split its local office and distribution operations.
Kask America last year acquired a decades-old radiator shop at 301 W. Summit Ave., in the Gold District, spending six months and about $1 million to convert the building into office space for the company’s Charlotte operations. Kask, based in Chiuduno, Italy, paid $2 million for the nearly 9,000-square-foot building, which dates back to 1957.
“We wanted to find something that was close to us in terms of vibe,” said Fabio Cardarelli, North America sales and marketing manager of the safety division at Kask. The company previously had its office and distribution operations in one location, at Lindbergh Business Park in west Charlotte. Prior to that, the company operated out of Concord, its first Charlotte-area office that opened in 2010.
Kask’s Charlotte office includes employees in sales and training. The company develops, designs and manufactures helmets for sports like skiing, cycling and horseback riding as well as safety helmets.
