CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In the last week, three teenagers in Charlotte have died from gun violence. Another teen is now stepping up to try and stop the violence.
Meoshia Burgess organized an event in southeast Charlotte Sunday. People released balloons to honor victims of violence and donated clothes to people in need.
Burgess started her own organization because she’s so passionate about this.
“We can’t keep letting each other kill one another because if they kill us, and we kill us, there’s not gonna be any more of us. It has to stop, and our voices matter because we are the youth. We need to be heard. We are the future,” Burgess said.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden was there and spoke against all the recent violence.
