Iredell County deputy stays with stranded driver, uses his own AAA card to help

A man in Iredell County said a deputy went above and beyond to help out when his wife was stranded at a gas station.

In a Facebook post, Steve Morris said his wife locked her keys and phone inside her van.

Morris said Deputy Brian Cashion saw she was in trouble and stopped while on his way back to his duty station.

The deputy called AAA and used his own AAA card so she could get her van unlocked. The deputy also stayed with her for the next 80 minutes and waited for the AAA service man to get there.

“I couldn’t leave someone like this, I wouldn’t feel right about it. I needed to make sure she was taken care of and safe before I could head on home,” Cashion told the couple.
