CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of a fire that happened Sunday in uptown Charlotte and forced crews to shut down one street for several blocks and evacuate an entire parking deck on South College Street near the Charlotte School of Law.

“They just told me that smoke was billowing out the loading dock and, at one point, it was really, really thick smoke, from what I've heard,” John Hebert said.

Officials said the fire was contained to the basement level of the parking deck and no one was hurt.
