CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Fire Department investigators are trying to figure out what started two Saturday afternoon fires.

There were no injuries despite flames shooting out of a building on Ashley Circle in west Charlotte around 3:30 p.m.

Officials said the fire was intentionally set and that a juvenile suspect was identified and admitted responsibility.

Police at the scene said the building was vacant.

Around the same time, a fire broke out at an apartment complex on Conway Avenue in south Charlotte.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to control the fire and no one was hurt.
