CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The first phase of the Dowd YMCA’s $34 million project should be complete in mid-July.
It’s all part of efforts to position the Dowd for the future with improved functionality, says Joe Angelon, branch director.
Expanded and renovated facilities will help attract new members and provide a better experience for existing members while catering to women and millennials as fitness center expectations change. Women, for instance, now make up 51% of the Dowd’s membership.
“It’s just the next evolution of what the Dowd will be,” Angelon says. “We’ll have a bigger footprint to serve more people.”
