FORT MILL, S.C. — A Fort Mill man has won $2 million from a scratch-off ticket, according to South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
“It was pretty cool when it happened,” said the winner, who does not wish to be identified.
The man said he bought a $20 scratch-off at John Boys convenience store on Spratt Street.
He scanned the ticket at the store, and when he saw the message “Claim at Lottery,” he figured he won $1,000.
He said he took the ticket home and got the surprise of his life when he finished scratching it.
“I thought, ‘This is going to be the big one,’” he explained.
And it was, with him winning the game’s $2 million top prize.
“Everything got real easy,” the millionaire said. “I can breathe now.”
For selling the claimed ticket, John Boys in Fort Mill received a commission of $20,000.
