CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A portion of Interstate 485 in northwest Charlotte was shut down in both directions Wednesday after a deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer.
The crash happened just after 11:15 a.m. on the outer loop of I-485 near Mount Holly Road.
Troopers said the crash involved a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was flown to a hospital with serious injuries after being pulled from one of the vehicles.
No names have been released.
The deadly crash happened about two hours after a truck flipped and spilled a load of pallets in the same area.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene and could see a huge mess spilled across the road. It’s unclear if anyone was hurt in that crash.
Channel 9 is asking officials if the cleanup from the first wreck contributed to the deadly crash.
The interstate reopened around 1: 20 p.m.
