HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — All the recent rain washed out roads and is making it hard for crews to even start fixing them.

Huntersville has at least four major trouble spots.

"So we have to go all the way around," said driver Deanna Carnes.

Alicia Jones shops at a different grocery store because she can't go right on Bud Henderson Road.

"It's adding about 20 minutes to anything that we do," she said.

Mayor Jill Swain worries about emergency response times even though emergency vehicles are strategically situated to avoid the trouble spots.

"You know, even if there's a couple second delay, that makes me nervous," she said.

North Carolina Department of Transportation plans to start working on Harris Road next Saturday, finish Autumncrest Road by the end on the week, start Gilead Road a week from Monday and finish it in August, and start Bud Henderson Road a week from Saturday and open it by Labor Day.
