ROCK HILL, SC — Rock Hill held its annual police memorial service Wednesday to mark Law Enforcement Memorial Week. This year's event was especially poignant with the recent death of York County Sheriff's Office Detective Mike Doty.

Doty died in January after he and three other officers were ambushed following a domestic violence call. The three other officers who were shot along with him were at Wednesday's event to honor him.
Among them was Sergeant Buddy Brown who is still walking with a cane and in physical therapy after being shot. He told reporters that he's been to a lot of these events, but seeing Doty's parents, and being there for someone he knew, was hard.
"To see them there and to see Mike's picture up there on the wall, it was...it was a tough moment for me," he said.
First Baptist Church hosted the event. It's been 23 years since they started the event to remember fallen officers in the county.
Hundreds of officers from every department in the county heard the names read of every officer ever killed in the line of duty. There were 11 who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Sgt Brown told us he can't wait to pin his badge back on his chest and get back to the job he loves.

Sgt. Buddy Brown, who was also shot, uses a cane and is in physical therapy after being shot.
He told reporters that he's been to a lot of similar events but seeing Doty's parents Wednesday and being there for someone he knew was difficult.
"To see them there and to see Mike's picture up there on the wall, it was, it was a tough moment for me," Brown said.
Brown said he can't wait to get back to work and out into the community, because that is the job he loves.
