CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bishop Phillip Davis, with Nations Ford Community Church, was laid to rest Saturday.
Hundreds attended a visitation Saturday morning at Calvary Church on Pineville-Matthews Road followed by a celebration of life.
Many attended to pay their respects.
"It’s painful but I know Bishop Davis wants us to continue on,” Cortlandt Blair said.
Davis was cleaning his gun last weekend when he accidentally shot himself in the chest at his Union County home, investigators said.
His wife called 911 after she found him on Aug. 29.
