How to watch and where to celebrate Charlotte FC’s debut match

CHARLOTTE — Soccer in the Queen City kicks off on Saturday when Charlotte FC takes the pitch for its debut match in the nation’s capital.

For its maiden voyage as a Major League Soccer (MLS) team, Charlotte FC will travel to play D.C. United in Washington D.C. at 6 p.m.

For fans who didn’t make the trip to the game, WSOC will have complete coverage of the inaugural match.

Ways to watch:

Channel 9 is the official TV partner of the Charlotte FC. Pre-match coverage ahead of the game will begin at 5 p.m. on TV 64.

As for the match, D.C. United versus Charlotte FC will be televised on WSOC Channel 9, TV 64 and in Spanish on Telemundo Charlotte.

Channel 9 will also be streaming the match in both English and Spanish.

If you’d like to watch the match with other fans, one of the team’s official supporters group, Mint City Collective, is inviting people to watch the match at Salud Beer Shop in NoDa.

The game will be shown on the bar’s televisions, plus the projector upstairs.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

Cox Media Group, WSOC-TV (ABC Channel 9), WAXN (TV64) and Telemundo Charlotte is the official television partner of the Charlotte Football Club. WSOC-TV and TV64 will be the flagship English language television partners while Telemundo Charlotte will be the team’s local Spanish-speaking television partner.

All regional Charlotte FC regular season matches in 2022 will be available over-the-air to all television households within the Charlotte viewing area, in both English and Spanish.
