CHARLOTTE — Going back to school can be stressful for the entire family, especially for kindergarteners heading to class for the first time.
Channel 9′s Deneige Broom spoke with a clinical social worker about how students and parents can emotionally prepare.
Jenica Cannella said she spent several years as an elementary school teacher. Now she is a clinical worker with South Charlotte Family Counseling and knows firsthand how difficult first days can be.
“I think a lot of it is fear of the unknown. It’s scary. You’re going into kindergarten. It’s a big school, all the kids are bigger,” Cannella explained.
