How Lowe's is aiding in Hurricane Dorian relief efforts

NORTH CAROLINA — While Hurricane Dorian has moved away from the Carolinas’ coastline, it left some major damage to the Outer Banks.

Mooresville-based Lowe’s Cos. Inc. (NYSE: LOW) dispatched 30 specially trained employees to the coast over the weekend to aid in relief work. Lowe’s also committed $1 million to relief efforts for Dorian, including help for devastation in the Bahamas.

And on Tuesday, a “bucket brigade” will take place in the parking lot of a Lowe’s home-improvement center in Kill Devil Hills. The cleanup supplies in Lowe’s buckets will go to residents and visitors of the Outer Banks.

Lowe’s CEO Marvin Ellison says that’s the least the company can do to help its neighbors and employees.

“Lowe’s is committed to helping our associates, customers and the communities we serve recover and rebuild from Hurricane Dorian,” Ellison says. “Beyond our financial commitment, Lowe’s will help communities recover with product donations and volunteer support alongside our nonprofit partners for weeks and months to come.”

Lowe’s is working with the American Red Cross, the Bahamas Red Cross and other partners to help communities harmed by Dorian.
