CHARLOTTE — A woman has been charged in connection with the death of a 42-year-old man who drove himself to a gas station after being shot Monday night in northeast Charlotte, police said.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, someone found Lester Acevedo in his car around 11:20 p.m. at a Shell gas station on Sugar Creek Road near Reagan Drive.
Investigators think someone shot Acevedo on Merlane Drive, a few blocks away from the gas station.
Acevedo was taken to a hospital but did not survive.
On Wednesday, police said they were looking for a woman in connection with the crime, calling her a “person of interest.”
On Friday, CMPD said they had found and arrested that woman, 20-year-old Lazaria Hamilton, and charged her with accessory after the fact of murder.
