ROCK HILL, S.C. — Quantavious Torbit , a rising senior basketball player who was about to try out for football at the school that just won a state title, was shot to death this past weekend.
Investigators determined that two people, Torbit and a woman, were shot at a park Sunday after a Facebook post led to a planned fight between two women. Friends said one of them was Torbit's sister.
"I was just with him before all that even happened. I was just with him,” James McKinney said.
"Then some people started pulling them apart and that's when gunshots rang out,” said Capt. Mark Bollinger, of the Rock Hill Police Department.
Police made two arrests in connection with the 17-year-old's shooting death in Rock Hill.
Demetric Leon Houze, 25, is charged with murder. Timothy Holley, 19, is charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Torbit was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A 20-year-old woman was hit by a stray bullet but will survive, authorities said.
"I wish the killing could stop, but it's not gonna stop,” said Zyon Parks-Crosby, Torbit’s friend.
Officers combed the park for evidence late into the night and interviewed a lot of people, but police said many of them did not want to give statements.
Neighbors said they saw two girls fighting in a parking lot with a crowd around them. Dez McCrorey said his mother saw it all from her front porch.
