Deputies say person died after being shot ‘multiple’ times in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, N.C. — A homicide investigation is underway after someone who had been shot “multiple” times was found dead in Chesterfield County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said they found Courtney Covington, 38 on Hunts Mill Road in Chesterfield around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

There is no threat to the community, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators asked anyone with information to call the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 843-287-0235.

Channel 9 is working to learn more about what led up to the shooting or if police are looking for a suspect.
