CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department declared a double shooting at a southeast Charlotte apartment justified months after a man died.
According to CMPD, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 25 at a complex along Creekridge Road, off Village Lake Drive and Independence Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found a witness and evidence of a shooting, but no one at that scene was injured.
A short time later, officers learned that two people arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds. One of the men, 33-year-old Jonathan Robinson, was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
The other man, 39-year-old Jamell Robinson, was not seriously injured.
The two men are brothers, police said.
Months later, CMPD declared the shooting as a “justified homicide,” but did not give an explanation why.
Authorities said the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and agreed with CMPD’s decision to not charge anyone.
