CHARLOTTE — A man has been charged with murder after a 56-year-old woman was found dead on Monday in north Charlotte.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department tweeted at 1:45 p.m. that detectives were investigating a death on Vinton Street off Beatties Ford Road.
Police said they responded to the scene just before 1 p.m. and when they got there, officers found Diane Sanders with apparent signs of trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, police said they arrested and charged 49-year-old Donnell Gray with murder and felony breaking and entering in connection with Sanders’ death. Investigators have not said how she died.
Monday’s slaying was the third homicide in the past four days. On Friday, two other women were found dead in separate parts of the city. Police said the crimes are not connected.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
