Homicide investigation underway after shooting in Woodleaf

WOODLEAF, N.C. — Deputies are investigating a man’s death after a shooting Saturday afternoon in a rural Rowan County community.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a home on Hardy Lane in Woodleaf for a reported shooting. Woodleaf is about 10 miles northwest of Salisbury.

They found 45-year-old Elliott Rudolph Wilds had been shot multiple times. Wilds died after the shooting, and investigators said just before 9 p.m. they were still working on the scene.

No arrests have been made yet. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says they’ll release more information when it’s available -- it’s not clear if a suspect has been identified.
