CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD detectives have charged a second suspect in the shooting death of a man and a woman found dead in a car on Jan. 11 in north Charlotte.

Officials said police got a call from a resident about an SUV down an embankment just before 7 a.m. on Atando Avenue, near Statesville Avenue and Interstate 77.
When officers got to the area, they found Siojvon Joseph, 35, and Asa Shannon, 35, dead inside the vehicle.
Authorities have not said what led up to the incident, but according to police reports, both victims were found shot to death inside the car.
Police said they arrested 30-year-old Steven Staples on Thursday. He’s charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and felony breaking and entering.
Staples was also charged Thursday in connection with a homicide earlier this year in Hickory. Authorities have not released any details on a possible link between the two crimes.

Everett Connor was already arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and felony breaking and entering.
