MORGATON, N.C. — A local museum in Burke County is celebrating Mother’s Day weekend with the unveiling of a monument honoring millworkers.
The History Museum of Burke County held the community celebration on Saturday.
The festivities kicked off with the dedication of the “Dignity of Work” monument, which features two women working in the mills.
The project was inspired by one of the organizer’s mothers, who worked as a sewing machine operator for more than 30 years.
