CHARLOTTE — Historically underserved small businesses in the area can now apply for grants of up to $250,000.
Mecklenburg County business owners who are minorities, females, veterans or part of the LGBTQ community are eligible for the Beyond Open grant program.
The businesses can be a nonprofit or for-profit.

Those located in Charlotte’s “corridors of opportunity” get priority.
Foundation for the Carolinas is leading the effort with support from Wells Fargo.
Grants range from $5,000 to $250,000 with the goal of expanding economic mobility.
