Historic Salisbury building set for $3.5M transformation

SALISBURY, N.C. — A local developer is close to beginning work on the revitalization of a 1920s-era building in the region.

Josh Barnhardt of Iron Horse Development said he is set to close on the purchase of The Salisbury building in downtown Salisbury on Oct. 25.

Barnhardt and his team plan to redevelop the historic office building into 12 apartments in a $3.5 million makeover. The building, at 121 W. Council St., is around 18,900 square feet, project plans show.

Barnhardt told the Charlotte Business Journal that work at the building is expected to begin Nov. 1. On that timeline, the first units at the three-story building would deliver in April 2022.
