Historic Dilworth home renovated for financial firm’s new office

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A signature historic home at the corner of East and South boulevards is under new ownership.

Charlotte private equity firm Blystone & Donaldson paid $2.3 million for the historic Walter Brem House, at 211 East Blvd., last November and spent several months renovating the interior of the structure, built in 1903. The house was most recently owned and occupied by Sodoma Law, which moved to another historic building in uptown this year.

Earlier this year, Blystone & Donaldson and two of its portfolio companies — Infobelt, which develops regulatory software for banks, and craft brewery Legion Brewing — moved into the building as office tenants.

Blystone & Donaldson was co-founded by John Blystone, former CEO of SPX Corp., and Tom Donaldson, a former banking attorney. The company invests in middle-market companies based in Charlotte — particularly, but not exclusively, in the banking industry, Donaldson said.
