IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A 28-year-old man was killed in a wreck Saturday morning in Iredell County, troopers said.
It happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Mocksville Highway near Swann Road near Statesville.
Both lanes of the highway were closed after the crash.
The car veered off the road, hit a ditch and crashed into a pole, troopers said.
The driver, Winston Wishon, died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved.
A dog inside the car was injured and returned to family members.
Wishon was wearing a seatbelt, and there were no initial indications of impairment.
