Officials said Varnadore, who was driving a gray Mazda pickup truck, took off, leading police through York County onto Highway 21 just outside Rock Hill.

At one point, deputies believed Varnadore was going to go the wrong way on Interstate 77, but they said he turned around on a ramp and sped down Highway 21, where his truck overturned.

He was not seriously injured.

Channel 9's South Carolina bureau reporter Greg Suskin was there as Varnadore was pulled out of the truck and put in handcuffs.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers also got behind the truck to help end the chase, which reached speeds close to 90 mph at times.

Varnadore is facing several charges including driving under suspension and reckless driving.

Officials expect more charges to come.
