CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Para wants to be a destination in South End.

The 2,300-square-foot restaurant looks to deliver upscale, high-quality food with a focus on fresh ingredients, says Chet Desai, one of the partners in Parliament Hospitality Group. Para opened this week at 235 W. Tremont St.

“We tried to bring something that’s a little bit different than everything that’s here,” he says.

The space was formerly home to Zeppelin, which closed in 2020 because of Covid pressure.

Desai teamed up with David Feimster, Ricky Patel and Jigs Desai on that venture. Para draws inspiration from their travels.

“We just want to bring all the elements that we’ve experienced in different places to Charlotte,” Desai says. “It’s going to be something that this area needed.”
