MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — A sandbar off the coast of North Carolina has become quite an attraction after dozens of sand dollars washed ashore.

The area, commonly referred to as Sand Dollar Island, is in Morehead City between Shackleford Banks and the Rachel Carson Reserve.
No one really knows why so many sand dollars wind up on the island, but the sand bar is one of the many hidden gems North Carolina has to offer.
