Hickory hosts annual back-to-school bash to help students prep for new school year

HICKORY, N.C. — The town of Hickory hosted its back-to-school event on Saturday.

The annual event, put on by The Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism, was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Taft Broome Park.

The bash also had food and fun activities like games, face painting, and music by DJ Rodney. A vendor fair at the event promoted local resources, businesses, and organizations. Plush Kutz Barber College was at the event, providing free haircuts.

Raffles were held for bicycles and giveaways of backpacks full of school supplies to help prepare students for the new school year.
