HICKORY — Firefighters in Hickory responded to two unrelated fires within minutes of each other on Monday.
The first was at an apartment on 20th Street. The call came in at 1:18 p.m. Investigators say the man who lives there left a cigarette unattended. No major damage was reported.
The second call came in at 1:23 p.m. for a fire at a home on 12th Avenue. Investigators say an electrical short caused that fire.
