Hex Coffee co-founder talks expansion plans at Camp North End

CHARLOTTE — Hex Coffee will more than double its footprint at Camp North End later this year.

The Charlotte-based specialty roaster and retailer will move into a 2,700-square-foot space at 201 Camp Road.

That’s 145% bigger than the space it’s leaving behind in the adaptive-reuse project’s Boileryard district.

Hex’s new space should open in late 2022. It is located across the street from Grow and near Free Range Brewing.

“Charlotte is our home; Camp North End is our place; and this new location is truly the embodiment of everything we’ve worked for over the past seven years,” says Chandler Wrenn.

He launched the concept with friends Tanner Morita and John Michael Cord as a pop-up in 2015.

Since then, the company has built a following for its vibrant and fruited, high-quality coffee. It works with growers who produce unique and progressive varieties. Hex’s goal is to dial in on the coffee bean’s attributes to put place of origin at the forefront.
