CHARLOTTE — U.S. Bancorp has plans to open a branch at the former Fuel Pizza site in South End.

Yates Honey, of Honey Properties, told Charlotte Business Journal that the firm negotiated a 10-year land lease with U.S. Bank at 1801 South Boulevard. The Minneapolis-based bank has filed site permits with Mecklenburg County.

Honey said the local real estate firm began looking for a new business for the property before Fuel Pizza’s lease ended earlier this year. It has owned that 0.31-acre site since 1975, according to county real estate records.

The restaurant closed in early March after 20 years at that location.
