Here’s what will replace a longtime Dilworth greenhouse that’s closing soon

CHARLOTTE — The site of Campbell’s Greenhouses & Nursery is set to become an apartment development with some ground-floor retail.

Plans for the project include a 110-unit multifamily building with ground-floor retail space along both McDonald and Cleveland avenues, according to a city of Charlotte filing. The project — listed as Cleveland Avenue Apartments in the filing — would also include a parking deck with access from Cleveland Avenue.

Campbell’s General Manager George Koehler confirmed last week to CBJ that the 0.75-acre parcel the nursery sits on is under contract to be sold. The longtime Dilworth staple is set to close in early November.
