CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina has been under lockdown for 8 months. The state set another record for cases Wednesday and new restrictions on gatherings take effect Friday.

There’s a lot of disappointment with the restrictions, especially ahead of the holidays.

“It’s mentally exhausting,” resident Sam Boileau said. “Just the day to day now you got this big holiday that we usually go all out and have fun and just enjoy it and now were just gonna stay in the house.”

It’s all very stressful and therapist Justin Perry told Channel 9 that people may not realize the impact this pandemic is having on them.

According to Perry, whether we realize it or not, we’re all feeling emotions the pandemic has brought with it and in more cases than not, that emotion is grief.

>>In the video at the top of the page, Channel 9′s Susanna Black talks to Perry about how to handle grief during the pandemic.
